Why does Switzerland have such a strong machinery industry?
Highly trained professionals and engineers are essential for a strong machinery industry. Switzerland’s dual education system is unique in the world and exemplary. Within this system apprenticeship training is highly valued and well regarded.
During their last two years of school, students can learn in depth about apprenticeship opportunities in industry and commerce. One very nice tradition is the Future Day. On this day pupils in their last two days can visit a commercial or industrial company of their choice. This gives them first-hand experiences of their future working environment.
Last week several pupils visited our company for one day as part of the Future Day. Among them was Lea, the daughter of one of our mechanical design engineers.
Lea was so enthusiastic about the Future Day that we received a Gerteis® cake today. Lea is every bit as creative as her father.
