The team day of our sales team took us to the Neuthal Museum, one of the most important centres of Swiss textile and industrial heritage.

What impressed us was not only the collection of historic machinery and weaving machines from the former Rüti Machine Works. The guided tour also provided fascinating insights into the technical, economic and social impact of industrialisation on the Zurich Oberland region.

We particularly appreciated the tour led by Hans Frischknecht. Drawing on around 60 years of experience in the textile industry, he shared not only his extensive knowledge of the machinery, but also the wider connections between technology, production, working life and society. Every question was answered patiently and expertly, extending well beyond the technical aspects alone.

What made the visit especially memorable was that it focused not only on the machines themselves. Equally fascinating were the stories of the people who worked in the factories, the working conditions of the time, and the societal changes brought about by industrialisation. Complex technical topics were explained clearly and accessibly, and questions of all kinds were welcomed and addressed with patience and expertise.

The day concluded with a shared lunch at the museum café and a hike along the Guyer-Zeller Trail, which commemorates one of the most influential industrialists and railway pioneers of the Zurich Oberland.
